So what is NANOWRIMO
I decide that having one unread blog was not enough. I needed anther one. This one is just for nano. For those who do not know what I am talking about. This post is for you.
Nanowrimo stands for National Novel Writing Month. This crazy contest/adventure that takes place each November. The goal is to write at lest 50,000 words in the month. That might sound like a lot. But it is totally do able. It works out to just 1667 a day. Just two or three hours at my hunt and pick typing rate will give me that. Yet only a fraction of those signed up will complete.
Some will never start. Some never intended to just year, they just joined to support others. Or as a way to remember it next year. Some get caught up with life issues. Others get to hung up on perfection. They want a finished, publisher ready work. That is not what Nano is about. It is for get the rough draft of your story out of your head and on to paper. Editing will come latter.
But those who can let it go and just right will find it a nice ride. Some just enjoy having a deadline. Others the community. Or a combination of both. The site (www.nanowrimo.org) has message boards where you can contact with others taking the plunge. they are a good place to vent when Cars go on strike, or find just the way to kill that whiny one. Just remember the forms are nice. can give you an idea and support but you mustn't spend all day reading them. Some time must be spent getting the words out.
