Day 6 that is day 5, as I didn't get muh writing done last night.
Athions grinned. “I had not thought that far ahead. I keep getting stopped.” Kell only response was to look at him. He sighed. “Fine be that way but it would be more fun to.” She looked at and shock her a head. “Ok. Ok. So then. Well. I uses the others will head straight to the books on Amerdaen so I was thinking I would look in the ones from Budaen from the same time. Chances being that they would have noticed something to. They have long history of keeping eyes on each other. And if it was an event that Amerdaen want to be forgot then you can bet Budaen has a record if it.”
Rick had made his way back to his spot. Kell nodded. “Sounds good. Have Rick help you with that. I am going to look at Sothdwars then will come help you. I don’t expect to find anything, but best to look in case.” She finished her wine and stood up. “But that is for the morning right now I think the bed is calling.” She turned and went down the hall Athions stood and followed her. Rick took and washed the glasses they had used out and saw that the wine was properly stored, then headed down the hall after them.
The next morning they found breakfast waiting for them in the front room. After finishing eating they made their way to the library. The boys headed to there chosen area, Kell up the stairs to hers. The morning passed with out anything being found. Kell headed down stairs thinking to go to the hall for lunch, only to find that it had them brought to them. Bree was talking to the Monks that had come in with lunch. Kell got there as the conversation was ending. “they will be gone this afternoon. Father sends his apologies if he had of known of their issues he would have bade them find a room in town. He hopes that you will find a way to forgive this slight but he thought it best for all. There has all ready been more than a enough issues. As you see the students will be taking lunch here as well. It is not you men, but theirs. They take anything as an insult, you can cause a fight just by saying hello, I swear.”
Bree shook her head. “You make sure that he knows there is no problems. Heck no one would have cared a bit if he had of asked us to camp last night. And he should know it. If for some reason they don’t get off just let us know and we will stay clear. My men know the public areas of you home by hart and can avoid them.” She turned to the others. “The morning before we got her a group of Rand’s men showed up to pick up some copies he had ordered. They weren’t ready, and not knowing ran the good Father offered them room tell they were.”
Someone groaned. “In that case I am surprised the good monks haven’t drank their stores on their own. The way those guys can be. He should have said something. Well no chance we will run into them here. A library is the last place you would find any of them. When will the copies be done? Need some extra hands on them?”
“With luck they will be leaving after lunch, the leader took the copiyes this time. So I think that is a good sign.” The monk was clearly upset. “I do hope you know we do not mean.”
Bree interrupted. “We made the mistake of taking a job from him once. Trust me we understand completely. He is to sure of his place in the world, shall we say, and his men take after him.” The monk looked relived and left. The others turned the attention to lunch and talk of their lack of success thus far. After lunch it was back to work until dinner it was time to head to the hall for supper.
When they reached the hall Kell turned to Athions. “I get the joy of setting at the first table now, but I had best not here Martha worrying that you and Rick are not eating. And you know full well that she will.”
Athions shied. “Will a bit every every thired dish do?”
“Make it every second one for you. I will let Rick get by with ever third one. But you must take a full serving of at lest one of those. I mean it. She was tell me the other day that you were both to thin.” Athions nodded, Kell turned to look at Rick, who lowered his eyes at once.
Rick shook his head. “Healers worry to much. We are fine. But as you say.” Kell nodded and made her way to the front of the room. She tried for one of the seats at the far end of the table, but as usual ended up by the head. Father Jones all ways made her and Robert set at the front table, saying they might have left the home behind but that did not change their place. Royalty should be treated like royalty even when they were in denial.
Kell took her place without comment, though a small smile tugged at her lips as she remember her first visit here with the Dragons. The fact that she not only knew where the library was but was not even asked if she wanted help finding something in its maze. And it was a maze. There was an order to the way the books were placed, but you had to understand a bit of the monks order to make since of, and even then it wasn’t easy. That would have been enough in and off itself, but then the head of the order back then had greeted her like an old friend and set her next to him at supper that night. Well that all had taken some expiation, even though they had known that she was Roberts sisters and that Rob was the son of some king back north, but they had never really paid it any thought. Father Jones saw the smile. “Just what are you think of?”
Kell smiled a bit wider. “Oh just a certain game of tag one rain day. Say how is the painting going theses days?”
A couple of the monks went a bit red, but most of the people just looked blank. Father Jones’ smile matched Kell’s. “Oh how I have missed you. You must come around more often really, all of you. Not just when you need something from our library. If you don’t mind just what is it that brought you here? It must be urgent, Tony has barely glanced at the Sardine book he drools over most visits, and I understand that Ruth has yet to notice our newest book on Carien healing.”
Bree took a bit of her food before answering. “We keep running in to some creeps that have the appearance of some new cult. Some of there symbols have had a hint of age about them. But find anything has proved difficult. What little we have found leads us to think there might be a Amerdaen connection, but nothing concrete has turned up yet.”
“They must be some real pieces of work for you to be so focused on them.”
Bree nodded. “They seem to be using some kind of mind control to turn civs into single minded fighters. The only way to stop them is it find and end the one doing the control. Not as easy as it should be. But that is not supper table talk, forgive me.”
Father Jones frowned. “I would like to know more, but you are right it is not for the table”
Bree said. “No doubt Kell will be happy to fill you in, as she tries to talk you out of some book or anther.”
Kell smiled. “As a matter of fact I happen to think that you might have a couple of books I have been wanting a look at.”
He laughed. “There usually is. Let us save that for when you come have a cup with me shall we? So what have you all been up to lately?” With that the talk went to other things.
It was the next day before Kell made her way to Jones’ study. She went by the halls, using those not generally traveled by the public. She raped on his door. “Enter.” She opened the door and walked in. “Just why are you knocking? You know better, imp.”
Kell grinned. “Just who are you calling an imp? I am not the one that decided to climb the chapel.”
Jones laughed. “True, you just fowled behind. What was the reason? That’s right to catch me if I fell. That went over well when we were caught.”
“We wouldn’t have been caught if you hadn’t have called out. We were all most at the top.”
He laughed. “I think I was scrubbing the floors more a month after that. And never did get to see the view from the top.”
“You mean you never tried again? To bad the view is fantastic. Well worth ever second I spend in the stables.”
“You didn’t. When?”
