6k, but I didn't want to post before the call.

Samantha said. “Well really this whole conversation would be considered against the law out east, even taking the Class issues out of it, for it is unthinkable that the Government would make a mistake.” He and a lot of the others in the room laughed and Samantha was able to smile. “Really. I take it you haven’t cover the respect statutes yet? They typically come just before the Magic statutes as a reminder that it is not our place to question why there are laws against something that isn’t real. Saying the government can make a mistake without pointing to one is a month in a work camp Pointing out that you missed the law would be a fine. Pointing out an actual mistake that was made by anyone in government is jail time, length depends on how high the person is, but at least a year unless you are in a higher office. It is acceptable to call lower employees on mistakes but typically in private unless they are losing there positions.” There was a bit more laughter and she had to agree it was silly, but they needed to know how bad it could be. “It is a bit scary how close some out east are to calling the upper government gods.” He looked at her shocked. “About two years ago a city’s court in Virginia sentenced a twenty year old to six months in the Icecal mine for saying the mayor wasn’t God. The governor did say that was to extreme as the man hadn’t been talking of a national official and cut it down to a month in state prison.” Mr. Robbles said. “I didn’t know that. Is that common out there? Our scripts out here just say that it is the law that leaders are to be shown respect at all times, then goes into the magic is a myth and isn’t permitted. All talk of it is to be discouraged now we are going to talk about it spill. So those statutes need to go into the not taught out here list.” Samantha said. “I can write them out for you so you have the list. I fear that it goes a bit more then simple respect. Not all places were as um, devout, as that but it is growing. Sorry for derailing you, but well any that have dealings with the east need to know the danger.” He smiled at her, hoping to get her to relax more. “You are right, and thank you, we do need to know this. I am just wondering why I didn’t get in more trouble then I did last year.” Samantha said. “As a government teacher, even in training, you are a government employee so only those higher then you would dare to correct you or your family. They would know you were from the west and so used those standards most likely. Also if you had a travel visa and not a resident id card your ignorance of the respect laws and the mythical laws is forgiven, though the officer who checked the id is likely to tell you that comments that questions the leaders wisdom or refer to myths are not welcome in public spaces before letting you go. It is that ignorance of law that limits the number of visas given.” Or so we are told, though likely they are all so using it to control what we learn. Though I don’t see why that would be such a big concern with in the Nation, yet clearly there is a difference. That case I spoke of was a major story, it was only the tenth recorded time that a court sentence had been changed, yet it never made a report out here. At least I kept from saying that. I really am saying too much, but it is a bit scary how easily they could be in a big mess or get their relatives in one. Mr. Robbles looked at Samantha and realized the child saw a lot more then she let on. She would be an asset, no wonder they had put her in that section of Mythical Studies. She would be a good fit, if they could keep from scaring her off. “Indeed but it is more likely the control of information and trade that cause the limits for all that ignorance can be upsetting to some. Now let’s see I think we have a good cover on thought reading so next is moving things. Which I thought was called telekinesis, but I guess it is just causing things to move with out physically touching them. Really, that is the heading here.” That caused a wave of laughter. “Just how do they determine that? Just think that could be used to say the use of pulleys or magnets was illegal. And what about items that roll down ramps on there own?” Mr. Robbles said. “Nothing is sad about magnets, but ropes or strings count as physically touching the item, as do ramps somehow. This is one of the bad ones, but here we go.” With that he went back to the script and was pleased to notice Samantha was able to smile a bit, even if she didn’t relax enough to laugh. She truly looked less upset then he had feared she would. Samantha was glad when the class was done and she had made it back to her locker to get her bag and the books she need to take home with her that night. “I wonder if Rodger called dad and told him that Erin has a dungeon full of captives and John lives in a cave. It will be fun to see just how he related that phone call to them.” John said, smiling and glad she didn’t seem upset by it. “I think my cave was the leas scary, though your rooms were likely far over showed by Sam answering him.” Erin laughed. “I do hope your dad isn’t to upset by it, but I just had to.” Samantha smiled. “Dad will just ask me what he was talking about and then laugh. He and mom know we are trying to get them upset enough that some of them come out to see just what we are into. I can’t wait until my legs are strong enough I can climb up the ladder to the tree house so a picture can be sent to my Grandmother, who is just sure that trees are killers.” It would be even better if some of the pictures made it to the other set. I know Aunt Ruth does send some things to them I do hope I can get one of a gryphon or a dragon. They might just call mom then, and no matter what she says I know it troubles her that they didn’t even acknowledge the letter telling them where we were this time. Sam said. “How are they reacting to the horses then? Or have you not shown them any?” Samantha said. “I don’t think any have been sent pictures, it sounded like Tom was going to wait until he could get one of me riding, but I’m not to sure. They have been told of them and were upset by it.” Erin said. “I need to run so lo . . .Mr. Henderson doesn’t think I forgot the appointment. So see you at six. Now Samantha you will be at the stables then or is that too late? We try to ride after school, but with Sam out of town and me in the hospital things got a bit messed up, but it is time they get back on track. School days mean we are just on the track by the stables but we do go for longer ones some weekends. However with me just out we will just be stuck on the track for a few weeks.” Samantha was clearly shocked. She was not used to being asked to join others. Her brothers’ friends had her go with them, but that was so they knew she was safe, not because they wanted her there. “I am to be there by five thirty so I will be there. I haven’t ridden in a few years so can’t go to far, but was going to ask Jack which horse he thought would be good to start with. I do want to be able to go for a long one when Wind is as I just know he won’t behave unless I am there.” She hoped that sounded all right. Likely they would be less upset about it then she was, but it was still a bit alarming to realize just what had been going on. She was wondering how long it had been and why she hadn’t realized it sooner. Sam smiled at her. Just why did she look ready to bolt again? “Good, that will work well. Don’t worry we can help, after all Mike had never been on a horse before Edith dragged him over last year. Likely you are right about wind, if he won’t let Jack lead him he is going to want you there. The unicorn blood is going to make him picky. Likely he is going to have to have a say in which horse you ride as well. Jack can usually talk them around a bit, bit if he has fixed on you he is going to have to watch.” John nodded. “I bet he is going to be almost as bad as Stella. Which I need to warn you is a Unicorn, and she will be there watching at least. Most likely where we are just on the track that will be it, but sometimes she insists I am not to be on any of the horses even then, and defiantly not if we are going far. She doesn’t trust them with me. On the plus side it means we don’t need to worry about water as she can see it is safe. Downside is she will not let us do anything she finds to risky.” The others laughed. Erin said. “Good see you at six then, so tell your dad he can meet me around then, if he needs to see for himself just what kind of monster had you.” She laughed and head off. Samantha shook her head a bit. “Why do I think you still find plenty of trouble? I am sure that hanging out with you all is going to give me a lot of stories to tell the ones back east.” She then flushed a bit that was not something she had meant to say. They were being nice, but she shouldn’t invite herself into their group like that. Edith smiled at her. “Just so, I can’t wait tell you and Erin are able to go for a longer ride so we can show you the dragon cave. We call it that because there are paintings of dragons on the walls, not because we have seen one there. Some of the paintings are older then others, and there is more then one type shown. I am sure you will like it when you get there. It is just a half an hour so I am sure Jack will think we say it is good for the first trail ride with Wind. Do you need to sit before we head to the door? Are you catching a bus?” Samantha said. “I think I can make it to the chairs by the door.” They nodded and started to the doors. “My dad is picking me up. We did get the maps for the bus routes, but I just can’t try them yet. Public transportation wasn’t safe out east and so I need a bit more time to adjust. You weren’t allowed on the buses if you had Addsons and those without it needed gang passes or be High class to ride safely.” Sam said. “Just let us know when you feel up to it and we will go with you. I can see why it would be scary, but I promise the buses out here are nothing like what I was told was a bus out east. Not that I was ever saw more then the outside of one. We were just told it was unwise to use them as they were not dependable, not that it was illegal for me to do so. Though I was told I had to be sure and use the marked elevators or stairwell for my safety.” The others laughed but Samantha nodded. “It truly was for your safety, as well as others. If you had of went to the wrong one those scared of Adsons would have panic. With me I was stirred away before getting there, but there was less chance anyone would have felt safe to correct you. Therefore you very likely would end up hurt do to the panic you caused by being in the wrong place.” There was a greater chance that no one would know Sam had Adsons but it was still a risk. It can be bad out there, and they need to understand there is a real risk for them from those in the east. I was lucky my parents didn’t by the scare stories. Few with the visible changes are ever kept out of the care homes and once you are in you end up to drugged to care that you can’t leave. Yet it is too soon to say that, to say what I saw in the care homes. I don’t want that to get back to my folks anymore then the testing center. I have caused enough separation, I don’t want to ruin any chance that is left for mom to be able to talk to her parents. Sam looked at her troubled, but it was Mike that spoke. “You don’t need to worry about that happening out here. We are told what Adsons is in grade school, and that it is made clear that there is no reason to fear anyone that has it. For all the monitors tried to stop us the laws making it a part of the standard education texts remain on the books. I don’t like the sound of things in the east. It is unnerving that seem to be teaching people to fear it and to lock away those that have it. I hope some are looking into why they are doing so. I can see why it would be a bit scary to you out here, for all you don’t seem alarmed by the lack of walls. That is what we know of the east, that you all live in domed cities and travel between them by high speed rails or underground tunnels.” Samantha said. “There are above ground highways as well, they just are not used as much by the higher classes. They require extra paperwork, so it was a good way to limit the moving between cities. Still it was most often those roads we took, and likely we would have a brake down at an isolated spot so we could get a brief view of the open sky. It wasn’t legal, and so we dared not tarry long, but the folks would let us have a couple of minuets.” I still wonder how they managed to do it after moms parents cut us out when I was eight. Before then Grandfather would sponsor the trips, for all he frowned a bit he did see the need for unfiltered sunlight and campaigned for more to be let in the cities. Likely his pull is why Dover has an hour its screen is down each week, and it has more normal plant life as well, though they do still keep the animals out with the sonic, which gave me a headache each visit. The air was fresher there then other cities, so I loved going there even knowing I would be sick the first few days. “To here my aunts and uncles talk my parents were both hunting for holes in the fence from the time they could walk. So I don’t see why everyone was so shocked they would move out here when they had a chance, yet they seem to be. I missed out on the yelling itself, but did hear about some of it. My dad’s parents actually stopped talking to him for a month, and went a week without talking to any of us. Not the first time, but one of the longest.” Mike said. “I can bet they were upset, but that does explain a bit better why you are not scared of the sky. I truly thought it would be alarming to you.” Samantha said. “The size of it is a bit overwhelming but I am not frightened. Now a few of my cousins might very well be, should they come out here.” She had to smile a bit as she pictured them. “I think the animals and the plants would scare them more than the sky, but it is hard to say. It would be interesting to find out.” She was glad to see the chairs and headed over to them. “That was almost too far. I am glad the chairs are here. I hate to think about what I would do trying to get around East with my legs like this.” Sam frowned at her a bit then sat down, as did the others. She shook her head a bit, wondering why they did so. “If you need to rest, then Mike should as well. besides I need to see your phone. After all we need to get your number and you need ours. If you let me see it then I can get them transferred. I meant it, I want to know what is going on when I’m not home.” Samantha laughed and handed it to him. “Just don’t go sending out to many odd texts, or they might think I am in trouble.” Sam smiled as he looked at her phone, pleased to see they had got her a good one. He had been a bit worried about it, but this one would hold up. “I won’t this time, that has to wait until we are out riding and so can really scare them. What is up with the skulls? So you like pirates?” Samantha said. “In part it is because skulls are often used by the gangs and so forbidden to anyone not belong to one. Therefore it was a way to upset the folks back east. However I do like this case, and the sales man said the jewel on the phone had to match.” Sam said. “I can bet they would be upset. I had to get a new backpack as mine infringed on the gang that owned our area. I had taking one that had a rearing horse on it, I knew I could use this one but thought a horse would be safe. It still seems a bit silly, but then a lot of things did. Now I am sending us a text so we have your number, but honest that is the only messages I am sending.” Samantha said. “Go right ahead. I truly don’t think you would get them to worried if you did send them an odd sounding message, they know I only half way understand that thing anyway. Plane bags were safest until you knew what tags were in use. A horse means it could have been the Stallions, they are a registered gang that has chapters in three states. Registered means they are legally allowed to operate, not that much was done about unregistered ones unless they were silly enough to try and mess with someone who had power.” Edith said. “The more I hear the gladder I am I don’t live there.” Her phone beeped as did Mike’s, she looked at it and shook her head. “Yes number is saved, but picking ringtone really? Now that is a bit much. Did your program ours for her?” Sam nodded. “Of course I did, you herd her she is still getting the hang of it. Best to get it all set for so she doesn’t need to struggle with getting the right ring tones.” I laughed, then louder as he jumped when trumpets sounded. He looked at my phone and smiled then handed it to me. “That is some ring tone. I think someone was upset by that picture. May I please forward that message? Erin will love it.” I looked at the message then at him. “You are sure it won’t upset her? That is a bit much.” Sam shook his head. “Her aunt that it worse than that, trust me she will love being thought a monster. However now you have to read the message.” Samantha shook her head, but read it to them. “Sis we are about three blocks away, didn’t want you thinking we were lost. So if you can escape the flame headed Monster that has you trapped we will see you soon. And you must tell me about this monster.” She shook her head. “How does this sound? Erin had a meeting so I am free of her, but still trapped by the others I had lunch with. See you soon, if I mange to get out of the school.” Mike laughed. Yes send it, and Erin has to see that message. She is going to love it. I bet she adds a few of those red feathers to her hair before coming over. Just too really play it up.” Laughing Samantha sent the message then handed her phone back to Sam. “I have no idea how to send it to her, but go right ahead.” Smiling he sent it. “I can show you when you are ready, but I take it you have enough for now.” Samantha nodded, she still wasn’t sure of half of what she had been shown as it was. “There, I sent it. Now shall we head outside least they think they really do need to come in and save you from us.” Samantha smiled. “I am sure they won’t.” However I stood up and so did they, so it seemed that they had decide that it was best not to let me wait alone. We reached the door and her phone went off again. She looked it and laughed, then read it to them before they could ask. “Wait, more then one monster? I only heard of one! Where did the others come from? And Erin would be? Is that the monster? Why do you know a monsters name, why does it have a name? I am more confused now!” The others started laughing more so once they saw the car and knew they could be seen. The phone went off again. “Those don’t look like monsters. Yet you are surrounded. Make a brake for the car and.” Sam shook his head. “Nope it won’t work after all monsters are scared off that easy. However we will let them think so. We will stop here and you go on.” When I reached the car he called out. “See you at the stables, and if you are not there I will let Wind get you! Now at least one of them needs to be there as well so they can tell them that the monster knows where you live.” Samantha turned and called back. “No far using Wind! That is cheating. I am sure Roger will make someone promise to go with me. See you latter, if you don’t get lost.” She laughed and opened the door. Sam said. “We will see just who gets lost! See you there, Samantha. Come on, we can’t be late guys or she might just find out how to track us down!” Laughing they head off to the bus stop. Samantha got in the car still smiling. “So I take that Roger has been texting or calling?” Grant said. “He called me and wanted to know just where you were and why you were setting with a fire. I am so glad you sent us that picture so I was able to laugh instead of ask him what he was talking a bout. I do think he was really a bit worried.” He just moved to one of the parking spaces and turned of the car causing the others top give him some odd looks, but he knew that it would be safer not to be moving as she explained the monster. “Now then what is this about a monster?” Will said. “Why didn’t I get these pictures? Aunt Ruth, Aunt Grace, Uncle Wane and Grandma all texted me wanting to know why I was letting you eat so much and sit with some monster and why was there a monster in the school. I would like to know just what is going on. Why did that boy tell you to be at the stables? What stables and was he talking about Windsong or some new beast?” Samantha laughed. “It is not funny. Well maybe it is, but it has been a long day so after this will you kindly remember to send anything you send them? I do want to see that monster.” Samantha shook her head. “I don’t know how they got the pictures I only sent them to Roger, and he should have know it wasn’t a monster. He called when I was at lunch and I had my phone on speaker. He asked my how my righting class was and so I told him I wasn’t to sure about my homework as I have to describe a room. Two of the others chimed in with the rooms they were thinking on so he asked me what I was doing. Only Sam thought he was talking to him and answered further alarming him.” That had them all laughing and she was glad that they were stopped. “I thought that sending him a picture of my lunch would help. Only when it didn’t Erin said to send him a picture of them, Sam said that likely would be unwise to her hair and the shirts they had on. Of course that made Roger insist I send him one, and if I did it right you should all have both pictures.” Their phones went off as she said it. “I told him I would call him after school so I had better. However that was Sam Robbles who said to meat them at the stables, and yes he meant Windsong. I truly thought he would be asking about the dungeon and the caves. Now I had best call him.” Grant nodded. “Just put it on speaker so he can hear them when they look at those pictures. I am going to stay parked a bit longer as it seems safest.” Will said. “That could well be. Sounds like you had a busy first day Sam. I don’t realize that was Sam, as I said it has been a long afternoon. So how did you meet him, and who is Erin, as I can just bet I am expected to know. Telling them I don’t has no effect.” Samantha dialed Roger and then said. “Erin is the girl that Mr. White has helping me learn the school. This is her third year here but she missed the first few days of the year as she is just getting out of the hospital. Having her with me sees she rests as well. Sam and John showed up at the lockers and they had the same classes as us so were with us all day, Edith and Mike joined us at lunch. I take it that they all hang out a lot, and try to go riding some each night.” Roger said. “Where are you this time? Just what was up with those clothes and that? Just what is going on out there?” Samantha said. “I told you I was at lunch, and Sam told you tha5t you might find them alarming if I sent you the picture. Dress codes are different out here, but I am not in danger. None of them are monsters. I am in the car, but we are still in the parking lot as Dad is laughing a bit too much to drive just yet.” Tom said. “That is some lunch, sis. No wonder I Aunt Grace asked me what I was eating. How in the world did you mange to eat all that?” Samantha said. “I was told I wasn’t taking enough, and there was cake after it. I gather that I can expect the Adsons to start speed up my metabolism and make me need to eat a good deal more where I am not able to take Homerblat. Erin said that they never yell about you taking too much, just put more on your tray as you don’t have enough. I did have less then the others, as hard as it is to believe. There was a lot that I had no idea what was, I did try some odd things but kept it to small amounts. Say one of you want to send Roger a picture of the school? that will let him see where we are.” Roger said. “You ate cake after that? What but a monster has flames for hair? Those others had Dragons on their shirts of all things! Yet I am to believe you are safe there, knowing you are alone? And you ask that other one how far it is to a Gryphon’s cave? That doesn’t help.” Samantha said. “His dad mentioned that Sam had said he saw a gryphon by a cave on one of the riding trails, I wanted to know how far it was. It is about a four hour ride so I won’t be going to it soon. I do believe that I told you she had dyed her hair that color. However if she does turn up with the red feathers added to it like Sam said I will see you get a new picture.” Grant shook his head. “Why feathers? Roger I assure you she is fine. Yes things a bit more wild over her, but this school is far safer them most of the she has been in. And as I have stopped laughing over the monster I had best start home, so kindly remember the girls name is Erin.” Alice said. “That is wild hair, but I like that shirt. I wonder where she got it?” Samantha said. “I am not sure why, just that Sam bet she would so she could truly shock whoever was with me. He had my phone when Wall texted me and said Erin had to see the text, which meant I had to read it to the others. They agreed that she would like it, so I let him forward it.” Will was frowning but Roger spoke first. “Why did he have your phone? So Erin had disappeared? It must be some school if the students wear feathers.” Samantha said. “Red feathers in her hair and not to school, just to the stable tonight. Or that was when Sam said she would have them on. It does sound a bit alarming. Sam had my phone as he instated he had to get my number and give me theirs. Erin went to talk to Mr. Henderson after school.” Grand coughed. “Mr. Henderson? Are you sure that is what she said?” Samantha looked at him puzzled and nodded, but before she could say anything Roger said. “What stables and who is Henderson? So you are seeing them tonight someplace?” Samantha said. “I understand that they all go riding regally and meet at Mr. Robbles stable, and will be there at six. I am expected there by five thirty, Windsong gets worried if I’m late. On school nights they stay to the track but will go longer on the weekends. However with Erin just being out of the hospital they will be staying close. However they think that they can have me ready for a longer ride the same time she is, and hopefully Wind as well. Jack will be riding Wind so there will be an adult along the first few trips and it will be up to him when they happen and how far we go. I will not go without him or further then he feels is safe. Mr. Henderson is the teacher of my Mythical Studies but doesn’t normally teach high school students and is not from here. He also has the most server from of Adsons. I am not sure where dad heard the name before. I wasn’t sure what his name was before Erin said it, as he didn’t. Yet knew ours which was a bit unfair.” Roger said. “The horse gets upset? So dose that class involve more dungeons? I truly wonder just what is going on out there.” Will said. “I was five minuets late getting her there yesterday and got balled out by the horse and the bird. So yes he does get upset with her. Further more Sam threatened to let the horse come after her if she wasn’t there. Once you get out here and meet him you will understand. If I didn’t know better I would think he was part unicorn or something. Good thing I’m not the trickster.” Grant shook his head. “I don’t know I think you all do a good job. There is a visiting professor with that same name. I will be in his class on the changed plants. There are a few more of them out here, so I wanted to brush up a bit.” Samantha said. “There are no dungeons in it, nor does Erin have a real one. The class is about Myths, like Coyote.” That should tell him that I couldn’t say, just like Will invoking the trickster should have let him know that Wind was part unicorn. It was a code we had worked out years ago for things that couldn’t be spoke of. How to hint it was an Adsons thing? “I guess that the class is a school requirement.” Roger said. “So not only do folks out there wear myths on this clothing you have classes in them. The more I hear the more convinced I am that Wild West fits. I am glad it is looking likely I can come out over the winter break and see just what you are into. I have to get to English, but send me that picture so I know you survived this meeting at the stables. One of you had best be there. I am not convinced yet. Have you seen this others?” Tom said. “As she said she might be riding I have to be there as I have to take pictures for Grandma and Uncle Able. He needs to see that she is still riding, after all he started it.” Rodger said. “Good, and remember Joe and Greg as well. Talk to latter if you are able.” Greg said. “No monsters are going to get them. Don’t worry they see the pictures go wide and likely those of her on the horse will make the web page. As will any thing that could be a mythical animal. Have a good class.” Samantha said. “Talk at you later and it will be one of the older horse if I am on one. Wind isn’t ready for a rider yet, and it will have to let Jack ride him the first few times. Don’t worry I will be watched and will be careful. You might find a unicorn on the webpage tonight. Have fun in English.” She hung up and looked at the others wondering who would ask and what they would think of the answer.
