Cursed day 2 5041
Idrias shook her head as she took
off her dress and looked at the gown. Even given the lack of body shyness that
came with being a shifter that dress was just sleazy. It was worse than being
naked for it was meant to get the eyes and highlight the very places that you
didn’t show off. granted all ball gowns for those of a marrying age were meant
to showcase their bodies, but most were tasteful in how they did it. These
gowns were all way to loud in it, making them look a bit desperate, but at
least her sisters were not so vulgar. They at least covered even as they
advertized. The one she was to wear was just gauze and the area of her chest
and groan were decorated of all things. It was bad enough that it was maroon, without
the gold and silver highlights that were focused on those areas. The under
slips sent made it even worse as it had holes in those areas and was red,
making the dress even bright and contrast more with her pale skin and hair. It
was a mess. She flinched a bit as it sled on, for even with a fit slip on it
still clung and shimmered to much. It truly made her look like she was trying
to seduces anyone in the room. It was bad enough but even worse that was just
what a number of the court expected lone shaeshifters to do. If they weren’t in
a clan then it was believed they were after one and all knew that involved sex,
or so they said. She wondered though just where that came from, for she defiantly
was not looking at anything that moved as a mate. Her brothers, heck even a
couple of her sisters for all they deigned it, were far more active than she
was, yet she was the one that everyone watched. It was nuts. She had been more embarrassed
than excited by the thought of those lessons and even now she made few invites,
yet the few times she had been around the Waltons, Lady Glenda had made a point
to see I was never near her slime of a son. This dress is just going to play to
her view. I hate it and would never be seen in anything remotely like even the
ones my sisters have had in the past little own this. Shaking a bit she left
the bath, knowing her face was bright red. Even with the slip she felt like she
was displayed, but hiding would not fix anything, and to not wear the dress
would be a insult to the Crown.
The others looked as
she entered and then shook their heads, making her face flame more. Fearing
what they thought of her. She knew well that she looked like a slut, and hated
it. “I don’t know that the slip helps. It still feels slimy, but well it isn’t
quite as tell all, but do people really wear things like this? I don’t see how
they could even in a brideroom. I didn’t mean to say that. I am. It is.”
Sara said. “I agree,
and no the only one close to it is those that are gifted dresses and none have
been as bad as that. At least not when the ball came around. Helen’s started
off near as bad. Don’t worry, it can be altered. I still wonder if any of the
family truly knows what is sent. I honestly can’t see His Majesty approving it.
I know the Queen never would. She looks horrified at them every year and doesn’t
try to hide it. Relax sis no one is upset that you hate it. Just what were they
even thinking? You are just nineteen for peat sakes. None would ever be that vulgar,
but nineteen is too young to be trying to find a husband, if that is what that
is intend for. You shouldn’t be in anything tight, little own that.” She waved
at the dress. “You have every right to be upset at being asked to wear it.”
Gladys shook her head.
“Marge, get a screen over the door. Last thing the child needs is for one of
the boys to walk in.” Idrias jumped a bit as she felt a spell go up only then realizing
that one of the ladies was a mage, but no one seemed to notice her reaction. “Now
dear don’t worry, we can make it less sultry. It still won’t be comfortable,
but it won’t show so much. I can tell you want out of it and don’t blame you
but we need a few measurements first. Alice, destroy the slip that came with
it. I will make a new one, like I did with Helen. Marge do you still have that ribbon
we used on Beth’s dress? That will help tone this done a bit so it doesn’t wash
her out as bad. Alice what light weight fabric do you have? White would be
best, but a light color will work. Helen can you tell if the decoration can be
moved. I do hope it is that guild that yours was.” She had been digging in her
bag and came out with tape measures and papers. “I expected at least one would need reworked.
If the rest of you want to go get yours we will see what we have time to do
with them. Idrias might have the worst but I bet that we can fix yours a bit as
well.”
Helen had moved closer
to Idrias and could see that she was trembling a bit. “Well at least you don’t
have holes in the dress. I swear mine had a cut out right over my groin, but
Mother said it was at my navel, but that is not what it felt like. And there
were bells at me nipples! Still to think they outlined yours like that. Good
news it will be ease to move it, and there looks to be enough we can run it
down the sides. Don’t worry when they are done it won’t be as bad. I think they
go out of the way to make them vulgar. I don’t know why they would but it sure
seems that way. Each one has been a bit worse. I do wonder if they won’t just
send a sheet of clear plastic one year.”
Idrias smiled a bit at
the image, but then shook her head. “No not just clear. That would never do. It
would have to have highlights at the key places, to make sure those parts were
noticed. Likely in some house colors so they could cry insult. I just know that
it is how Lady Glenda feels about that they have picked maroon. I am just sure
she is going to see this as further proof that I want her Fred, when nothing is
further from the truth.”
Helen winkled her
noise. “That cad! I do hope that you never found yourself alone with him. All
hands. Everyone said that I had to watch Prince Harvey, but his highness isn’t
half as ill mannered as that troll. She truly thinks you are chasing that?” She
shook her head. “Yes you are right they would have to have decorations. I never
thought of the colors, but that makes to much sense. It would explain why mine
was orange of all things, given that is Hilton colors and we have had trouble
in the past.”
Susan said. “A lot of
the inland Ladies watch Idrias over much when ever she is around them, but Lady
Glenda went so far as to tell her to stop chasing her son. Never mind he was
the one doing the chasing. Landen had to step in and block him, as he was even
trying to follow her into the bathroom. It was that bad. I would have hit him,
but Idrias goes out of her way to be polite, least she alarms someone. I didn’t
even make the connection, but then I forget house colors all the time. She is
indeed going to try and say it is all a plot, even with us hosting. I can just
bet she will say we picked the colors.
At least we all have a shade of maroon that might help.”
Marge said. “I can see
that. Some of them are willing to take offence over anything and some do love
to stir up trouble. I never thought, but looking back I can see a trend. I will
have to try and get a word with Alice, she will see it stopped. I never
thought. If they don’t know what is being sent, I can bet that will see the smuttiness
end as well. I have never been inland so just put it off as fashion, but if
that is not the case. Well better late than never, I guess. At least I hope we
never see that clear dress. Just the thought of it. Don’t worry child, you will
be a lot less exposed once we are done. Can she go change? There is someone
coming to the door, the screen will keep them from seeing but they might have a
message.”
Gladys said. “Just
about have it. Idrias raise your arms if you would I just need to get the chest
size then you can go get out of it. It won’t be good, but it will wearable when
we are done. There now you just run on and get out of it. Lad what do you need?”
Seth said. “Sorry to interrupt,
but is it possible that Idrias could come with me for a bit? There is some interest
in one of her projects and we can’t give fitting answers.”
Alice said. “It will
be just a bit, go on and get changed dear. It’s not a problem. Though I wonder
just what has them that puzzled.”
Idrias said. As she
ducked into the bathroom. “Well um, I
was writing down some odd thoughts as I read and if they saw them, well there
is some that could indeed seem alarming out of context as they would be. It won’t
be but a minute. Or. I didn’t think to check what I left out when I went to
change. I was a bit board and so was getting inventive, I fear and made up a
battle or three.” She flushed a bit, knowing that one of them at least had been
a commander so would be able to read those diagrams.
Marge laughed. “I bet
it is Gorge that is after them, he never can leave anything alone and where you said you were
reading the reports ant that would likely have factored in. I can see why he
would have questions. He has been working on something concerning them as well
and likely wants to talk it over with someone who can see what he does. Nothing
to be embarrassed over. No way Iron would have sent for you if the others hadn’t
of said they were fine with it.” She checked, then dropped the screen. “Sorry
if the screen worried you, but it was needed. Now then how is your suite for
the ball? You have tried I hope. If not do so or there won’t be time for us to
fix it.”
Alice said. “The
suites all fit, and cover fine, though the colors are just as bad. I did see
they tried them on.”
