46152 She has admitted to herself she will go. teen age sillness

It wasn’t until lunch that she heard anything else from Tulip. “There you are. Did you know that you and Joe had a big nasty fight, but it wasn’t you an him as Joe doesn’t have a black eye? Well done. I don’t know just what you said, but that one is fixed. You are still out do to the fact you shop at the Gothic stores, which is just to dangerous, but the silence treatment should let up a bit. However now the two of you are going to get an apartment together. Just so he can keep an eye on you, but still that has to mean a short engagement.”
Yuma shook her head. “I was asked so I had a good reason to ask Joe how he got a black eye. As far as I know we won’t be getting an apartment together.  I can tell you that I have no such intentions and I don’t see him forcing me into it. Besides I think he wants to be off campus and I don’t, not at first no matter which school I go to I fully intend to spend my first year on campus. Then I will think about finding a place off it, should I find I don’t like it.”
Tulip shook her head. “You’re going to Oxford, stop pretending you not. It is fine at home, Mother needs the time to adjust to it. I don’t, you are immigrating, I saw it when you read the letter and still wonder that it took me that long. You don’t fit here, you are not happy with the limits. You see why they are there but hate them just the same. Always have. You were the first to push for more access at every level. It just will be better for you there as strange as it. You have always needed to see for yourself why something was. This is the same thing. You need to experience it, you need to see what is censored and then you will not feel right here as you know there are other ways that would work but you can’t use them. It was hard to come to terms with, I had to get over the shock to see it.”
Yuma looked at her sister in surprise as she realized. “I. That is why I don’t want to admit it, even to myself. Because you are right, it isn’t just about school, not once I get there. I won’t be able to stay to the limits and so having them will brother me if I was to return. I never. I truly had no intention of attend Oxford, I just was irritated so said it. I truly was just taking test to see what it was like. Now though. I am not able to say no, I want it, for all I am scared of what it means. Still it is a not something to rush into, but likely you are right and I will go. For all I fear what will come.” She shook her head a bit. “I do hope that it won’t cause you problems. It is such a headache to face it all a year early. I still don’t see how I managed it. This Season is going to be a mess. It is so odd to think that I will be on the floor this year, not on the sides with you, as I should be.”
Tulip said. “There is another reason to go, that way you won’t have to be here for it after this year.”
Yuma laughed. “It only takes eight days at most to get to New York, and then a short flight. So I can bet I will be there for some of it, just not as much. I will get out the second week in December and start back the second week in January so even with travel I should be around for the main bills, and will be expected to stay up on the issues. Who knows is few years they might just have fights going again, and it will just be a matter of hours. It is just a matter of finishing the maps on the dragons routs. They did half, then stopped as there was no demand for them. However the contact between us might just change that.”
Tulip said. “You had best find out where you will be living, and likely there will be a few visits. I thought it would take longer to get there, but if it is that easy no doubt Father will go over now that he will have a reason. He has wanted to see the old places, see what was left of the land marks the history books talk of just as much as you do. So you had best be expecting it, and see that there is evidence that you are not staying together.”
Yuma shook her head. “That will be easy, for we won’t be. If I was going to be that way then I would be able to deal with the dorms.” Tulip shook her head and went back to her friends, leaving Yuma wondering what was up. She didn’t have to wait long as her phone buzzed.
She took it out to see Tulip had sent a smiley face. ‘That will change the conversation. Yes some might wonder if it is the spells that will keep you there, but no will think you have cast any. They know better, that we are close to the sensitives and it would be known if we tried.’
Jill said. “Now then we need to see the papers on the housing so we can scare our parents with it.”
Yuma said. “I haven’t looked yet but I was told that most, if not all, of the dorms have both on the same floor, and there is no monitoring of the rooms. I think that will do it. I am glad that the letter said I would be able to be in an apartment. For all I wanted a dorm, I don’t think that will work. If that is the case there is no way I could take it. Having to deal with the magic users will be a big of enough challenge. There is going to be a lot of stress, so I will need a place I can relax.” The looked at each other and smiled. “Yes I know I just admitted it. I’m done fitting, so I had best look at the housing. Besides I need to look at it before Wednesday so I can have it narrowed down before Joe gets a hold of the papers.”
Jill said. “Good, as I don’t think anyone was ever going to believe you were going to Duke or Harvard. They were all set on you going, no matter what you said. Likely some were in it to keep you and Joe together. I do wonder what they would have said if you weren’t graduating this year. They might have been upset with Joe.”
Yuma shook her head. “More likely he went first to see that there was a place ready for me. That is with me taking the test. Now if that hadn’t of happened, then I bet there would be an outcry against him going.” They laughed a bit and rushed to finish their lunch before the bell rang.
Yuma didn’t think of the papers again until she was back in her room and needing a break from the paper she was writing before she got to mad at it. Why anyone would assign a essay on gender roles in the nineteen-twenties America. Well at least it should remind them that there had been a time when women were expected to stay home and be gentile. It might make them think, but it was madding to write, reminding her to much of what her Uncle thought was fitting. There were a number working, but manly single women and only in certain limited fields for less money. That did indeed seem to be what some were campaign to have happen, saying it was more in line with the Word. It was just making her boil a bit, for all it was helping her from better arguments to bring. It was madding to think it might be needed.
She shook her head and took out the unopened envelope, she needed to know what was in it anyway. She didn’t know why it was so much harder to open this one, but it was. She slowly lifted the flap and took the papers out. It was indeed from the housing department. They were not as enthusiastic about having her as the school was, but did say that they felt she would be happier with one of the apartments then a dorm room. For even a single room was going to present challenges for her. As it was assumed that boys and girls kept strictly separate over here and that was not the case there, which was reflected in the dorms. There were separate bathrooms in most of the dorms, but otherwise there was no separation. It would be the same in the apartment building, but being in an apartment meant that she would have more room that was just hers. Yuma had to laugh at hat, for it was just silly. She wonder if the guys had received anything from the housing office, and if it was any better than this?
She set the letter aside and took out the papers. There was one sheet on the dorms that showed a picture of a wall and a small bed, nothing else. There had to be more to the room and she doubted if the bed could be as small as it looked. Surely this wasn’t the normal flyer they sent out. There was a list of facts about the dorms below the picture. However it was clear they didn’t want her in the dorms, but she was tempted to see what she could find out at the website.  That would want, if they didn’t want her in the dorms then it was best she listened. For all she still wondered just what they had heard and were scared off. Well the only way to fix it was to meet them and let them see that she wasn’t so strange as they feared. She picked up the next page and was stunned, for it was perfect, and nothing she would have expected. It was for the Dragon House apartments and surrounded by trees. It could have been made for here. The information on it just sealed the deal. It was set back a bit in the edge of a n small woods, it was new growth, but still there was a good deal of wild life. The building was designed after a dragon’s wing and was decorated in keeping with the name and design, each apartment was biased on one of the known types of dragons.  The apartment they were offering her was the sliver Dragon room, and so was gray and blue as the dragons were. The Slivers were a large breed and so the apartment was one of larger ones, it had two bedrooms, a living room and separate study as well as a good sized kitchen and bath. The laundry was communal in the building, but was just down the hall from her apartment. There were pictures of the apartment, but she didn’t do more than glace at them. She knew where she would be living. She did glance though the others, but didn’t really pay attention to them. She just made sure that the paper on the Dragon was half way down when she put them back in the envelope. It would be interesting to see what the guys said. She was going to try and stirring it out a bit, but it wasn’t going to be easy. She could just imagine her Uncle’s face when she told them the name of the apartment building. Likely it would be best to wait until the rest of the family was here, just in case she needed to hide. She went back to her paper feeling better, and so the last half of it was easier to write.
Yuma barely made it to the table at Hastings before Joe said. “There you are, about time. Now then did you bring that second letter? We never did see what it was. Have you even looked yet or did you forget about it?”
Yuma shook her head. “I’m not late just because you all are early, did one of you get me a cup of coffee or do I” Walter handed her one. “Thank you.’ She smiled a bit at Richard who was standing there looking a bit like he was ready to bolt. Did she really make him that nervous. “Richard are you joining us or running out? You might want to stay a bit, the letter they are asking about is my housing information from Oxford. This way you can let your Mother know about it, as I am sure she has been bugging you to get the details from Joe.”
He coughed and Joe said. “That is just why he is here. Well that and he needs you to help him with some history thing. Well I said we could help him, but I meant you would. Goon and sit, despite the rumors Sis doesn’t go around giving guys black eyes.” He coughed, but took the empty chair and got his books out. “Now let me see the papers. Did you go though them any or just read the letter again?”
Yuma punched him lightly. “That part of the rumor has died as someone has seen you and snapped a picture to show that you don’t have a black eye. However they still want to know who the tall dark guy I was kissing is. Somehow my saying that I want to know to doesn’t help. I didn’t think it was that bad, but it just confirms I was cheating on you. I think it would have to be one of the group, as it was just after or before we fought. So who do you think fits?” She opened her bag and sat the envelope in front of Joe then hand Richard the other one. “That one is the offer and information on the collages that want me to join them. They have an amazing history program and the genetics is just as good. It is a good offer.”
Richard said. “I heard they are asking you to double major. First time I have ever heard of a school asking someone to do that.” He took the letter out, and then said.”It is going to be different over there, they have made a number of discoveries we have missed out on, just as they have missed out on ours. The physics program has me worried that I am not going to be up to it, they are so far advanced, at least from the description of the classes. It is going to be challenge. There is a good bit that we have missed out on as it blends easily with mage work. They said that I would have to take some high school leave classes to catch up in a few areas, but it will be worth it. Are you staying with pre-med?”
Yuma smiled a bit. “Yes, I am going to med school, that is not up for debate. I just want both history and genetics as well. Somehow I think they might let me, where Harvard wasn’t to sure I could find time for the History classes, as there Premed was strictly structured and there wasn’t much room or time for electives. That was what moved them out of first place.”
Joe laughed and handed the letter over. “You thought our letter from housing was bad, read this one. Just why are they so worried about the dorms? At least they are pushing you into the campus apartments. We received boarding house recommendations.”
Yuma shook her head a bit. “I was wondering what your letters were like, if you had one. I didn’t know if you were even considering the on campus housing.”
Walter shook his head. “We have had enough of the dorms, and wanted more space, but they sent us a letter with suggestions. None that we found useful, as they were for rooms in families houses, not apartments, they seemed to think that we wouldn’t want the responsibility of keeping a house up as all of them included cleaning service and laundry. Lucky we have found some better place on line. Three bedrooms, so a bit large but they will do. Richard and I are going in together for a four bedroom as there wasn’t enough open in the same building.”
Mark nodded. “Lynn and I will be sharing one as well, it is going to get some talk of course, but should largely be ignored. The value of not being anyone, still I am just glad that the exchange program is helping with the expenses. I don’t know that we could do it otherwise, if the scholarships weren’t being honored we would be out of luck.”

Yuma said. “Take the emigration package that is what it is there for. Even with the program you will need the help as you get settled in. The visa will let you get jobs over there but you will need time to adjust and find a rhythm. I am surprised they haven’t already seen to it that you all get the package, even if you don’t end up staying there past school you qualify for it. You know you are actually acting as a type of an ambassador. There might be something there, but I won’t say anything if you don’t want me to. About the ambassador, I am going to bring up the emigration package, you are not the only one that is counting coins to make sure they can mange it.”
