John said. “Would he really?” Kat nodded. John shook his head. “Well I am not sure how the one that added the note would know what was safe. However, at this point we have no choice but to open them. And you might as well summon those other clothes if you can. Otherwise you will be followed home so they can see them, unless you swear to bring them over first thing after breakfast.”
Kat said. “It will be best to wait until after noon, around one tomorrow I can’t get here in the morning and right now they are still in a box with some things he felt I would need. I do not feel safe opening it here, not knowing what is in it.”
“You don’t know. Yet you. And. John I think we need to walk Sis home.” Petter said.” I mean she hasn’t seen them yet knows there is glitter.”
Milly said. “You mean you want to talk her out of the best ones. That won’t do at all. No, you will not see them before I do and we don’t want to alarm the neighbors. So dear I must ask that you bring the box as it is over with you tomorrow and we will see them together. Nothing it is going up those that will be in my room at one. Now boys they won’t open themselves.”
Kat shook her head. “I am not so sure about it not embarrassing some, but as you say we will find out together what is in it.” She truly was a bit worried about what was in the box, but there would be some that they would find wearable.
John looked at Petter and said. “Now you have done it. We had a chance to at least talk Sis out of a few. Now we are going to end up covered in glitter, I just know it. Hopefully it won’t be bright green, but now.” He looked at Kat then at the bundle. “I don’t know about this. Still it can’t be any worse than the lime green robes. Right?”
Kat said. “I hope it will be, but. Well. Um, he did go to one state dinner in sky blue pants and a very thin skin toned shirt. So, I truly do not feel safe to make any guess about what is in there.”
He shook his head but undid the ties and opened the bundle. It was blue and red, causing him to shake his head, then he opened it the rest of the way and coughed. “I don’t want to know what your friend finds unfit for public. This first here is clearly a bed robe and um.” He showed them the set of cuffs that was on top.
Kat coughed. “I don’t know why.” Just how did he get that? The cuffs he should have sent to Petter, knowing the gifts would have to be made openly. Regardless that does explanation how either of them knew, for I didn’t say anything that could indicate. “It has to be because I said you were my brother. So he made some silly assumptions because of a story.”
Petter said. “You know we have to know the rest of that now. Just what sort of story would lead to cuffs? Those are nice, it is shocking to find, but you have to admit you needed them. Just put them in the robe and everyone will pretend they didn’t see them.” John did so and held up the robe so it could be seen a bit better. That got some head shakes for it was red and clearly meant to be open in front. It was light ant there were pockets and a bet that looked oddly like it had a handle. Luckily it was not to easy to see. “Is that red leather? Really.” John nodded and set it aside. “Now I can see why you were concerned. Are you all sure I should open mine?”
John said. “You have to, more so now. You know they are all dieing to see it after the cuffs. Relax Kat, no one here is overly upset buy it. I mean two of them have received massage lotions in court, and I am hardly the only one to find cuffs.”
One of the Lords said. “I found canes, not just cuff in a package of pre-wedding court gifts. Truly this sort of thing is normal. That is the fun of it. No one is going to be upset that John has the cuffs not Petter. Yes Highness we do want to know what was sent to you. It is good to see that some things are the same even with the differences. Truly this is going to help.”
John said. “I am not going to hold each these up, but he sent three complete outfits.” He held up a pair of blue pants with just a bit of a shimmer to them. “These are amazingly light. You need to feel them. If this is a sample of what we can get. I don’t know fabric, but even I can tell we have nothing like this. I actually am looking forward to wear them, for all the sparkle. He handed them over to Doug. “I meant it, go ahead and pass my pants around.” He laughed, and took out the matching shirt handing it over as well. He sat the other two on the table to find a long black leather coat. That made him look at Kat. “How? You had to of? But how? It is one peace, and just like! How in the world?”
Kat said. “It is not my doing. That is Cimaira hide.” He looked at her shocked and almost dropped it. “Yes, I am sure of it. Now the style, that I will take responsibility for, for I did ask for coats of that cut. However they were to be sent at Mid-winter. Now I will have to change that.”
He shook his head. “I can’t. I. That is. It isn’t. Just. The coat is perfect, it was before. It is just the cut that I tried. I can’t belove it, and then. However? This is to much. I mean the fact that it is a silkworm blank that was on the outside was enough of a shock. But Cimairea leather, this size? That is not. Just a bit worn will turn most spells aside, this coat will stop blades! How in the.”
Kat said. “Yes it will. As part of the treaty I am going to see that armbands are made for your soldiers out of it. The coats though I did not expect. I am as floored as you are. Cimairea leather is not sold, but is gifted. It is hard to obtain and closely guarded as you can understand.” She shook her head. “I don’t have an answers.”
Wills said. “You are going to what? You mean the officers?”
Kat shook her head. “No I mean all, if you give me the numbers once the treaty is done. An armband of Cimaira hid is a part of our uniforms and I intend to have some made with the right crests and sent here. It is in all the treaties I arrange. Normally I don’t say anything before hand, but I am startled by the coats. The arm bands should have no place in any talks. After all a lot of churches will give out medallions.”
Petter shook his head. “Around here we have only ever seen one ofthe things, and are glad of it. I don’t want to know how there is enough hide to give out arm bands. Little own the coat.” He touched his only bundle. “I know that you have more of the maicg beings, but still to make blents out of silkworm fabric. We hardly see enough for a shirt. Most just a few ruffles. That alone is enough to spark cries for trade, little own the clothes. And this was not the samples you had in mind.” He opened his bundle. And smiled. As he took out a case. “It says massage oils, no I am not going to open it. I am sure that it is better left to your imaginations.” That got some laughs. “I will agree that it will be used.” Kat shook her head and then flushed as he held up his robe. For it was easy to see that it could be used to confine the wearer. “Yes, I think it is safe to say that the oils will suite the cuffs. I do think that this robe will indeed be handy, don’t you, Love?” His robe was a paler red, with patches of lace. He set it aside and took up the first pair of pants. “And he even got the right shade of green! It is perfect. You had to have said something about the colors at least sis. Thank you.” He put the rest of his clothes to the side and took out a brown coat that matched John’s black one, with just a bit of braid in the arms. He smiled. “I can’t. This is.”
Kat said. “I am sure he is going to be pleased to learn that everyone was speechless. The silk is indeed a part of the trade items, but I didn’t think that the fire weed cloth would be that starling. The plant is all over here. I guess no one has thought to try spinning it. For the most part I was focusing on dyes and paints for trade here, as well as spices I know you can’t grow. Now though I will see that there might just be more wanted than I thought. Weapons will have to wait but I do think that there could in time be a market for our building steel. We are interested in spices from here, pig hides, cotton, and microscopes, fine leniences as well as the normal gem stones.”
Doug said. “Good to know. Now then we will let the servants deal with theses and get to the table before the cooks complain more. Then you can all start asking her about the titles and that story. After we are seated.”
Kat smiled a bit as she went with them to the dining hall and let them show her to a seat. “I don’t see why the titles need to be explained. By now you know I was at Cailm and ended up on the stage. That is the cause of a lot of them.”
Wills said. “I find that hard to believe, as I understand it the others there are not Lords or tittled knights, yet you are both. So there has to be a reason behind it. Then there is the fact that you flatly refused a permanent position in the guard. Little own a ranked one.”
Kat shook her head and sighed. “I didn’t want the army or gourds, but sometimes you don’t get to choice. So it was with this. The boat I took when I crossed was attacked. I joined in the fighting, of course. You all know how well I hold back. One of the passengers was a Prince. My actions were reported and so I was given a choice of leaving without the classes I came for or joining the guard. There were other places I could get classes of course, but I had already come that far. I wasn’t going to leave. So I was enlisted. Now then we went out in the field, mostly there was nothing that happened, but every time you are on patrol or working an event there is a chance. And so as the odds fail there were attacks. Most were minor, but they led to ranks being made and a few were large enough that some of us ended up knighted in a few places. Then there was Cailm. The places that hadn’t knighted me did so. That meant I had to be made an Empirical knight. I had taken over command of the guards when the commander went down, and so that meant I needed a tittled rank. So Black Knight. That took care of those actions, however I also took a blade that was meant for the Emperor. There was nothing that could answer it military wise after the other. So only thing fitting was to make me a Lord. Or So Mark said. I still say the post of Champion was enough. He named me his voice when he was trying to be in three place at once. I didn’t think it was permanent, but the Court said it was. I still wonder just why they listened to me and how those not on the stage to see who was issuing the orders truly felt about it when they learned.”
