1534 for today. Yes I know, but so be it. it will grow as it will. At least there are words happeing.
They made the way to the room, and Jade was limping a bit more when they got there. She nodded at the other ans then went to one of the chairs at the table. “Sorry to who this was, but I must sit. So forgive me for imposing on Leaders.”
A tall man with dark skin said. “It was left for you, Your Grace, and I want you to say what you need on the trip. There is a reason you wanted to travel with us, so say what you need.” Jade looked at him. “Glare all you want, I will use your title. It isn’t want not to Your Grace.” He bowed.
Jade said. “Now worried, you made. The guards did enough. Is not needed.” She looked around.
Another said. “Jade it is fine, they won’t start bowing just because he had to. My daughter does have a title and a power, but would not have it known. There is not much ceremony for it even where it applies, as she is still a student, little own here where it means nothing. It is just relevant as it means that there will be more qualified guards than you had thought, and they will be able to help more with local supplies, meaning a bit more room for equipment. As well as our wagons might hold more than you expect. That the supply offers are likely going over, but the route is going to have an impact on that. So lets get it finished. Looking here there is just a few changes that will likely be needed. I take it one here knows are station?”
Alice said. “The location of it is all. I know that there are areas that should not be entered, so just tried to see we angled in the direction of the likely approach.”
He smiled. “You have it set well, but we do have a few questions first. So starting here, why stop here, would it not better is go just a bit further this night.” With that the talk changed to the route.
There were a few changes made then they reached the bad lands. Jade said. “I must ask change here. Know want quick, bad area, but. Change benefit research, but add one night and extra day.” She traced the route. “First, here day, second here, just night. Yes danger. Heethro.”
The guard stepped up. “There are a number of animals in this area that would attack all that travel here. Even with the extra guards we will have, it would never be an easy passages. The camps will be heavily warded and so we will be safe in them. However the longer it takes us to leave the area the more likely we will be noticed my the larger predators. Hence the first route, for all it missed an area your team should see. The first camp site is safe, it is the place they need to see and there is an established ward circle there that we can raise easily so we will be safe to stay the day and let it them study as we make a small trip. This one will not in cress the danger, other than adding time. However the circle will keep the chance of being noticed down. The next day of travel will take us close to some dens of wera-lions, but my men will be ready and can deal with them, though it might mean a bit of a halt. Still we should make it to this spot with light to set camp. It is not as well protected, but it is a safe area to camp and will be secure. However we will be seen. We cannot leave until it is full light, and must move as fast as possible for the first two hours, then will be out of danger. For those two hours we will be in a Gryphon’s territory. We have a good chance of being ignored, but should that not be the case there will be injuries.”
Alice did not like that they wanted to stop there, the thought of those waking. Yet that was by far the better route and the way she had wanted to go all the same. For all it wasn’t good that they came here for it. “As they can raise the circle at the first site I agree that this is a better route. I wanted to go there, but was not sure I could get enough mages to raise the full circle, and a long stop will need it. I have a rite that will increase the protection, letting us keep a bit. That will make it less likely that we will be attacked after leaving it, and might get us protection from the Gryphon, which we would see the other way. Just for less time. I support this change, yes it adds risk but the befit is worth it. You will be seeing a place few humans are able to. The value of that should not be discounted. We all know there will be danger, it is about balancing it. We have to cross the area and it is likly a group our size will be noticed no matter how fast we make it. This is worth it. How many asked about the World Well?” The ones from the school looked at each other, the others looked at Alice. “You have stories of it, have rumors. Now you have the chance to see it. They didn’t want to name it, least that make you forget the danger. I feel you need to know what is being offered. I knew that permission had been granted, but was not sure how it could be done.”
One of the others said. “It is close to the path we had when we were first coming up with the proposal for the trip. I see no reason not to change it back. The added day there will not hurt anything, we left extra time for just this reason. Yes it is a risk, but everything in this trip is a risk. The point of it is to start explore all places that haven’t been. To prove that with the right preparation it is safe to learn what we have been neglecting.” There was a bit more debate, but in the end it was agreed to.
When they got to mountains and the week long stop Jade nodded. “Good spot, will need it there to make next. See how looks weather. Maybe take three. Be good everyone. Next bit hard. Have Weather reader. Will know how close storms. How much safe spend. There lot study there.”
Alice nodded. “I felt they should see some of the evidence of the time before. That is the one that I know for sure. There are some on the second half that I have heard of but not seen. In fact we are going a few places that was I planing trips of my to see. So you have seen Sictmore?”
Jade nodded. “Temple month there, wilderness training.” Alice blinked. How old was she? She didn’t look more than sixteen, yet spent the month alone already. Yes they were expecting a lot of trouble soon. “Mine not normal, but not danger.”She looked over at her family.
Graint said. “Jade was kidnapped, and abandoned so after she was Found that part of her education was push first as it helped her recover to know how to be safe in the wild. She is worried what you are thinking it means that she spent the month on her own before she was fifteen.” That had some look at him. “The students are all checked on and will be brought in if needed. None have ever died. The areas are scouted and dangers minimize. They will have done it before with a teacher there, but them making the decisions. Yes it is risky, but they are not sent out there without knowing what to do. Much is asked of those that would train to defend the people. They must be able to face the dangers they will see. It is not a little thing to give your life to and so they are hard on those that would do so. All the guards with her have been through a program harder than hers. They would have made thier first camp by the time the were elven, so sis was with those students for it. They saw the best were near her, not that they were needed. In fact she was the one that did the rescuing. Not that it was anything more than a bandage that was needed. Still that has seen to some interesting experiments into better tape.” That had a few laugh.
One said. “You will see what he means when we get to the station, but in short a bunch of the young ones took up the challenge to find a way to make a bandge that can be applied with only one hand on a long cut. Some end up stuck to odd things, or with tape that only sticks to one thing.”
