Wild weekend two in one and lower 9466

“All right, now we are still waiting on the Nrlenders, so we are going to have a bit of a gap, as there is a part of the journey that is going to involve their research station in the Valut.” Alice said. “I know where it is but not the approach they want, still I can see we are angling to it, thus meaning less changes are needed. That will make a safe place to Winter, we should be able to reach it at just the right time and there are good caves there.” That got some startled looks and Dr. Holmers nodded. “That is the plan, they helped pick the leaving date just so that could be our winter rest. They will have tools so that samples can be worked on and our resupply. For all there was a bit of grumble about letting them on the trip, it is worth it. We need to be sharing what we know. Just because they are open about magic use is no reason to keep refusing to talk to them. And that wasn’t need. Just a bit of frustration spilling over.” Now then, that will help. I just know it in the range. They were not sure how to give me coordinates that I could use, due to the different mapping systems. They have had a station there for fifty years, and have it built up to a full out post. There are usually three to five families living there that rotate ever few years.” Alice moved over to the map. “They didn’t know that you had the location of Fire Vale, or could have used it. The Nrlenders know that a number of places there are sacred so do not name the ones they are near. They are five miles south.” She picked up a pin and put it on the map. “I do not know what area they will want us to use. There were some they were monitoring wildlife in and so need human interference limited.” They looked at her. “I have not been to the station, but have been to the area near it. The station was built with permission and so receives help from the patrols and some access to our motioner stations.” She shook her head a bit. “Yes the tribes have stations. Why is that a surprise? There are dangers out there that musted be guarded against, as you know. After all you are counting on us to serve as warning to some of them.” Fred said. “Most of our field researches have the access to some as well. Not all the same, it depends on how they work with the natives. Still it should have been clear from the reports that are sent in, even if they do not note it in them as I do. Nor then we know we want to be in this area for winter so we are angling to it, but that still leavers a lot of choices.” With that they got to work. There were a few debates, but for the most part Alice stayed out of it until they were past the settled lands. Then she got involved to see that they were clear of the danger areas. One of the ladies said. “Now then these mountains here are a place that we want a longer stop, there are said to be paintings there and an odd pond that glows, as well as some rune stone caves.” Alice said. “If you mean the lake that was in Oliver’s journal, it wasn’t there and isn’t worth seeing. However, there is one here and near some paintings and other ruins that none of you have seen. Can you show me an example of a rune stone? That way I will know if any of the caves near will do. There are a few with gems and crystals.” The lady said. “I asked them same and was shown a faded book that spoke of black sparling rune stone. So I don’t think they have any idea. If there are caves they will be happy. What are the ruins? There are old towns? How old?” Alice nodded. “Good, then this is the place we want , there is a hot spiring here and some good settler and grazing. So we can rest here for two weeks then push on. We will need it as the next bit is rough. Yes I know that is going to mean you don’t get as far, but without breaks you won’t make it at all.” That was directed at the two that had grumbled over every day stop. “The ruins here we think were abandoned just two hundred years ago, so they are some of the younger ones, but there are building in them that predate the divide, so it will keep everyone busy.” One of the ones she had been looking at said. “Before the dived? What do you mean?” Alice smiled a bit. “From before the River, when engines worked everywhere and people could fly around the globe.” He looked. “Yes, I mean it, and I will show you the proof when we get there. Mapping ruins is how my time is normally spent.” He shook his head. “That is imposable! That would mean. It must just be a different type of engine or fantasy. There wasn’t a time before. That has been disproved!” Alice smiled a bit. “Well then it is a good thing you will have time to explore the ruins and find the explanation. Now then leaving there we will have a bit of a climb here and then we have plains, and they are going to be a danger. They look safe, but are mostly bog, so we will need a guide. Another reason we need those two weeks. It will let me gather payment for one, but there might be a days wait, here. There will be a number of odd plants along the edge and I think there were some glowing rocks in that area as well.” They ended the meeting two hours latter happy with what they had done, now just to see if it would work for the rest. Alice was outside when the group from Nrlend got in, she had to frown a bit at the numbers they had, for it was a bit more than she had been expected. All the same now that they were here the route could be finalized. It also meant that there would be a camping trip soon, so she could cross a bit longer. That would help, it was getting to where she needed to get away a bit. It was not easy to just cast little spells, but they jumped enough at them. One of the boys went over to a girl who was standing by the trunk and said something in Cheren, to which the girl replied, he nodded and walked back to the others. Jade went over to stand next to the truck, sure that they would want to take it to be unloaded, but their bags would need to come off first. Her brother was seeing those there to great them understood, and to find out where was the best place to do so. This Nation was funny when it came to magic. Thinking it needed to be hiding away, they said it fine on campus , to just ignore the screams, but still. Best to make sure. She took a deep breath and smiled a bit and relaxed, it was good to be close to the River again. The air was better here. No doubt the team liked it as well. She still wasn’t sure why it was necessary they joined her last month. At least it was just half, but still to send them in that far. It wasn’t needed, but it was what was ordered and they would not explain why. I can see them meeting me once I crossed, but to come to me before then, and in Leftton, where we were near the ocean. You can’t feel the border there, it had to have hurt as they do not have the human blood that I do, and it was hard on me. She smiled at her brother, hoping he could see that she wasn’t as stiff so would worry less about her standing there. Grant wish he dared point out the bench, but he couldn’t without upsetting the guards and her. At least she had more color now. Those last few weeks before they started inland had been scary. “I trust you heard them sis, so what do you need them to do?” Jade said. “Just get them to form a circle, that might help them see it is safe and better yet will see no one touches the bags, thinking to help.” He noded and left. One of the others said. “I just don’t believe this! We are to have them with us and they don’t even speak English! It is. There was no reason to bring those in. Little own if they can’t talk.” Alice said. “They can all understand us and speak this language. However there is no reason form them to do so when they were not meaning for us to be a part of the conversation. A number there have been in the west before, the more experienced travels we have the better chances of success.” A few in the group had formed a wall a ways back from the truck, and a man nodded. The back of the truck opened and a half dozen bags left the truck, most setting down in the open area with space between them, but a trunk and weapon went to the girl. “How dare they! That is unfit. Unsafe and is not. Just what are they about? And we have to. No one should display such in public.” Ferd said. “There are six fully licensed mages in the party and unlike my children they are not going to refrain from use spells because those here find it upsetting. That said they will be spending most of their time across the River for that reason.” People had moved to collected the bags once they had the girl moved away from the truck with hers and one of the professes got in the passenger side. “There were some bags that the owners need to see to their selfs, those were unload in a way that they all agreed to. The rest is now going to be unloaded.” Alice blinked. “Lillain? On this side? I didn’t think they did. That is a big relief, I was hoping to get some help for the badlands, but that is more than I had thought.” Jade had walked over to them, thinking it was best to try and help. Just why was that man scared so with a Guardian next to him? He must not realize who she is. I forget how little they pay attention to the tribe here. I will answer her firs, then him. He needs time to be able to hear me. “Not often do they, but some came to me for return. Not want I alone in unfriendly land we must pass. More join there.” She turned to look at the other man. “Speaking is issue, me, but understand you I do.” Good I thought he would, that will help. He is still going to be upset, but it needs to be said. Best that it is an outsider, that way he will not be angry at those he should listen to. “Graint, translate?” She then stared speaking Cheren. The boy said. “Sir I know that you are not used to seeing magic used, but you will see more of it and a lot will be large spells than simply moving the bags was. If you find it that troubling then you will not be able to cope with the trip. So do think on it.” He flushed a bit. “Now sir let me add, my sister is young, but she knows the lands. As to the danger you were worried about from the spell, she passed your lands Black test when we first crossed, three years ago. My father is also black certified, the rest of the six are red. There is no danger of the spells escaping their control. Three more of us are blue, but we not need to cast any until the expedition is underway, as we are specialist.” The man relaxed, but was still frown. “Yes knowing that does help. It is still not fitting in such a public place, but the ranking does make it safe. I didn’t see and markers as there should be.” He turned and left Fred shook his head. “Don’t let him bother you, there was no reason for you to have the markers. As he will be told when he makes his complaint. You were all cleared and it was announced months ago, or so I was told when I warned them that my own would be casting spells. Not that they have done more than small ones, no matter what I said. Hopefully that will change now.” He looked at Alice. Alice said. “There is no need to upset them, when it is easy to slip across for a bit, and plenty of space. I see that those going on the trip see more, but the rest. It is not my place to start change in their views, where they harm none. The camping trip will see they know what it is like.” Jade said. “She is Guardian, it is their teaching to walk light. If others in sec lower, not do what she not. We not bound rule, we seek change where help. So, no hide.” Graint said. “They want us to meet with them over the route, but father needs to know if you are up for it or would rather go to house and let that wait?” Jade said. “Best they see now. Worse to wait I think.” Graint nodded. “Sir, do you mind walking her over? I will just let Father know. She is going to be moving a bit slow, it is just the difference on this side and will not be a problem on the trip.” He was a bit worried about it, but it would be best that she didn’t wait on him to show her where it was. Yet her limping was going to alarm them a bit more than the guards. Of course it would be as bad for them to offer her help, still it was hard for her not to react. Jade smiled a bit. “Graint, they know. Go on. They not scared by me.” He nodded and left, but one of the others moved closer. Jade changed to Cheren. “Just two in room, Heethro, the rest can wait outside or start exploring the area as you think best. There is no threat here. Not with Ava’s here.”` He bowed low and moved back. She turned to the others, and changed back. “Sorry, but easier, me. They over worry.” Alice said. “They are just doing their duty, Lady. It is not often the eyes travel so far from home. It is right they worry. Come, it is a bit of a walk, but there is just one way into the room so that will help.” Jade wished she could accept that, but it would trouble the Guardian when the Shiver with her corrected her. “Not an Eye or Hand, those vows not me. I went walking one night and was Lost. Sheltered, and taught.” She flushed a bit and the Guardian paled and turned. “No, I am sent to see what could have.” Alice nodded. “I realize that, or you would never be here. Still, to make such a mistake. For all your path is so different. There is more touching you than most Lost Children, Lady. You need to know that as well. It would not be so without reason.” At least I need not worry about guards now. We will have a full unit, and the brothers will freely add to it for the bad lands. Likely before I even send to them. Still to have a princess in the party, and one fully blessed. Those that we were created to guard against are string. Only then do the Lillain Royalty get so blessed by the Lady of Night.
